The folks at my day job have put together an event about how to run a
successful start up. It's during SXSW, but doesn't require a badge.
And, it's co-hosted by a local business, Spredfast. Please attend if
you're interested.

What My Gray Hairs Know About Founding a Startup

So you've got the idea that'll make you rich and famous. You've got
your friend who can make the app, and your other friend who knows the
right people. You've got the website built, tweets scheduled, and
you've called your accountant already. You've called your uncle, who
called his best friend, who let you pitch your idea - and voila, you
have funding. Check, check, check.
What to do when Facebook steals your idea? What do you say to the
lifetime friend who isn't pulling their weight? If someone offers to
buy your company, how do you know when to say no?
We collected a few people who know a little something about a lot of
sweat, startups, and building a company from the ground up. They'll
tell you how they've failed, their worst regrets, the successes
they're most proud of, and the things they wish they knew when they
were starting their first business.
