Hi,

Werner Staub from CORE is being added as a co-editor with
draft-ietf-regext-balance-01. We have a candidate list of changes to make to
draft-ietf-regext-balance that we would like to discuss on the mailing list for
inclusion in draft-ietf-regext-balance-01:

1. Change with the equation, where in draft-ietf-regext-balance-00, the
equation is Available Credit (AC) = Credit Limit (CL) – Balance (B). The new
proposed equation is Balance (B) = Credit Limit (CL) + Cash Balance (CB). The
title of the draft is the Balance Mapping, where it’s best to have the left
side of the equation match the name of the draft. The equation is more
consistent with the Registry Fee Extension in RFC 8748, where debits decrease
the Balance instead of increasing the Balance. The Low Balance Poll Message
name better matches as well.
2. Add the definition of the Execution Limit (EL), which is a fixed value
of 0 when no explicit billable commands (e.g., create, renew, transfer request)
are allowed.
3. Change the Credit Threshold to Notification Threshold since it is a
fixed value of the Balance when the Low Balance Poll Message is inserted.
4. Add sub-sections to the Object Attributes section to formally define
all the terms used in the extension, like the approach taken in the Registry
Fee Extension. The description of the Balance Info Response attributes can be
brief and reference the more detailed description of the terms in the Object
Attributes sub-sections.
5. Define the handling of the fees and taxes in the definition of the Cash
Balance (CB) and subsequently the Balance (B), where the transactions are
inclusive of the fees and taxes.

Below is a list of open topics for discussion:

1. Currently the currency is a single currency based on server policy. In
practice the currency could be a single server defined currency or could be
defined on a per-registrar basis. Do we want the server to perform currency
conversion?
2. Should the extension support optionally returning the “Last Book Entry
Timestamp” / “Last Transaction Timestamp”?

Provide any desired changes. Of course, we can make changes is later versions
of draft-ietf-regext-balance based on further review and feedback.

Thanks,
