Affero General Public License V1 or later

Description:
------------
Quantum Star SE is a space strategy game written in PHP, in a purely object
oriented form. The source code is to be released under the Affero General
Public License, option for GNU General Public License v3.

The application is essentially a full rewrite of an older project by the same
name which I was developing a few years ago. The rewritten form is focused on
providing a free open source community developed game which is easily
extendable and modified, and which is focused on server resource efficiency
and consistent security.

To minimise maintenance and development time, we utilise third party
libraries such as Smarty, ADOdb-Lite (based on ADOdb), Savant, and a custom
built small MVC framework called Partholan (under the LGPL). As a result the
game itself is not overly complex, and relies primarily on a predictable API
driven by Partholan, and the GameEngine.

Security is built in a consistent manner, using a whitelist approach, and
automating certain tasks such as database escaping, and input filtering.
Support for database stored sessions, a challenge/response style login
process (to effectively hide the user's passwords in transit in the absence
of SSL), php configuration settings, and more are included as standard.

The game was also designed to maximise efficiency in terms of processing and
memory since many open source php games see heavy use on shared hosting
accounts.

beta testers only, and is considered unstable and non-playable):
