Description:
------------
OpenSI.org is designing and promoting a professional software suite (for
craftsmen, small and medium sized firms, ...) including key softwares. OpenSI
proposes an alternative to the restrictive proprietary applications for which
you have to pay license fee.
>From now on, the OpenSI community has developped an accountancy and a
management software.
Applications and systems developped by OpenSI members are under the terms of
the GPL license.
The main application is developped on a client/server architecture. The
server module is written in Java and OpenEAS (a free servlet engine written
in Java), and runs on a Tomcat server. The client module is written in XUL
and Javascript and run on Gecko Runtime Environment.
The project's homepage can be found here : http://www.opensi.org
The source code can be downloaded from our web site :
http://wwW.opensi.org/download/
Our CVS repository is actually hosted by Sourceforge
(http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/opensi/)
Other Software Required:
------------------------
The server module needs a Tomcat server, that runs on a Java Runtime
Environment. We are planning to test it on Kaffe (http://www.kaffe.org/). The
server needs as well a database engine such as MySQl or PostgreSQL.
The client module is written as a Firefox extension, so it runs with Firefox
1.0, and it will in the future run as well on Firefox 1.5 and/or XulRunner
(http://wiki.mozilla.org/XUL:Xul_Runner).
