Thank you, Edward d'Auvergne The project is called 'relax' and is specialised scientific software. It's main function is for data analysis and number crunching. Specifically it handles many forms of NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) relaxation data, analyses this data, and returns results which describes the dynamics of a protein (or DNA, RNA, or other biological molecules). This information is used mainly by biochemists as well as chemists for understanding protein function and for drug design. The program implements many techniques from the statistical field of model selection and the mathematical field of optimisation (also known as minimisation). The code is 100% GPL, and currently only I have contributed to the project. The Sloccount line count is 18323 and the project started at the end of 2001. It is already within a SVN repository, the uncompressed dump file of which is 118Mb. The repository has had just under 2200 commits.
