Description:
------------
The project I'd like to publish is called LMC (Linux Movie Catalogue) and is
primarily a port of the Windows program AMC (Ant Movie Catalog) by Antoine
Potten, released Open Source under the GPL v2.
AMC:
http://www.antp.be/software/moviecatalog
"primarily", because I intend to change a few things or add some features.
LMC is a graphical tool written mainly in Python and Qt (using PyQt) which
manages a collection of movie CDs/DVDs to store media properties as well as
title information. To do that it relies on backends like trancode (tcprobe) to
scan movie files or scripts (currently only one in Perl) which query movie
databases on the internet for title information /picture, etc.
The project uses autoconf and automake to build the system.
You can download a working copy of LMC from:
http://www.master-ai.uni-karlsruhe.de/~merkosh/lmc-0.2.tar.gz
The basic things are working, i.e. saving, loading, adding records, removing,
query IMDB, scan file with tcprobe, so it can be used, but not all intended
features are yet implemented.
Other Software Required:
------------------------
None known.
I might tackle porting the "Pascal Script" scripts used by AMC to download
information from online databases, using Free Pascal or Kylix, or whatever
works and is available on my Debian ;).
Other Comments:
---------------
I am aware that there is a similar project, xamc
(http://home.gna.org/xamc/), which is also hosted by Gna!. LMC and XAMC were
developed independently from eachother and do not share a commen line of code.
However, I was inspired by XAMC to take up work on LMC again and release it.
Bevore that I tried to communicate with the author of XAMC, but it seems the
project is not under construction any more and my version was already farther
than the one for download for XAMC.

Hello,
"Linux" is just a kernel of a more complex system that we like
to refer to as GNU/Linux, to emphasize the ideals of the Free
Software movement.
The name you picked is likely to contribute to spread the confusion on this
topic. Could you choose a more neutral name (ie without linux within)?
For more information, see
