Description:
------------
The main goal of Huri Batash is to help the design of a small wind turbine
rotor. The package should mainly be used by people wanting to build a small
wind turbine by themselves. By entering just a small amount of information,
the design of a blade will be given as well as the power produced by the
rotor along wind speeds.
The software is written in Python by students in a wind energy master (for
the main part of them). For that reason, it was wanted to find a simple way
to write a graphical interface. The choice was finally done on Pygtk by using
Glade.
For plotting the Matplotlib package is used. Numpy is used for doing the
numerical calculations.
The software is just at its beginning and is not yet reliable. The group
needs in fact organisation (that we are looking for through GNA). The
development is in fact turned along two directions:
- the numerical calculations in areodynamics for designing and evaluating the
rotor.
- the offer of that results to people without engineering skills by a
graphical interface.
The first version of the code can be found on:
http://gaston-grobel.strangled.net/ or
(http://gaston-grobel.strangled.net/huribatash.tar.bz2).
Note that you may encounter problem for reaching that address (the computer
may not be online during some hours). E-mail:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] for getting a copy by mail.
Other Software Required:
------------------------
Python 2.4.2
GTK 2.8
PyGTK (for GTK+2.8 and built with libglade)
Libglade (version required by PyGTK)
Numpy (2.9.5)
Matplotlib (0.87-2)
Numarray or/and Numeric (the current version for building Matplotlib)
(Note that others version should work but it was not tested yet)
Other Comments:
---------------
Huri Batash comes from Nepali and means "High Wind" in English. This is a
tribute to Ranzan Sharma, studying wind energy in Copenhague and installing
small wind turbines in the remote areas of Nepal.
