==== Description: ====
The FOSS Malayalam Project (formerly known as the GNU Malayalam Project) was
founded on 21st Sep 2004 by Vivek Varghese Cherian, a noted GNU and FOSS
enthusiast from Cochin, Kerala, India. The project was initially located on
the GNU Savannah repository but is presently moved here to the Gna.

( The GNU project has acknowledged Vivek Varghese Cherian as one of it's
significant contributors on it's 25th anniversay and the credits are
available at http://www.gnu.org/fry/happy-birthday-to-gnu-credits.html )

The project aims at raising awareness among the Malayalam speaking population
worldwide about the need for adopting Free/Open source software (FOSS) by
developing Malayalam Fonts, providing rendering engine support, translation
of FOSS applications and also providing Malayalam documentation support to
FOSS  projects.
