FlatLander, I have exactly the same problem. I have followed hva's tutorial on the ubuntu wiki, but it doesn't seem to change anything. The tablet was partly support without it, but the same irritating bug still continues. I think it is also responsible for crashing Gimp all the time when pressure sensitivity is activated.
Since you people are talking about a driver needing to be installed, is this to be done separately from hva's fix?
