Im using Lucid. Alsa is at least 6 months out of date & does not work on my Compaq CQ42 Latop using the Intel sound chip. The only way to get the updated 1.0.23 Alsa is to butcher my sysem or install the highly unstable alpha Meerkat (yuck). Pleeeeaaassseee backport the latest stable ALSA 1.0.23 or provide a way for mere mortals to package it themselves...
