It's just sad that it's taken almost TWO YEARS for such a basic
requirement to be taken seriously. In the mean time, I no longer use a
3G connection -- technology, it seems, advances quicker than those who
would program for it. I'm sure, however, that the general need for the
requirement hasn't gone away. Most especially because it could have just
been a wrapper around a shell-script using pppd or even a gksudo'd
interface to /etc/network/interfaces (which is pretty-much all I did to
solve my issue when I had it). Not rocket science and definitely a
stumbling block for adoption amongst the less tech-savvy masses,
especially in our netbook-hungry market, where 3G is a totally viable
option for getting online.
