Doc change sounds good. For the workflow, just link the bug and the branch with the 'Link a related branch' option to the upper right of the bug page. Then, on the branch page, use the 'Propose for merging' link along the left side to start a merge proposal. On the next page that shows, just a quick one liner for the change description is needed.
Then, somebody with commit-to-trunk privileges will look it over and go from there.
