same here... got 11xAsus EeeBox 1012U doing this nasty thing, all the
same. I tried many drivers, possible fixes like #19 and nothing - I
don't think this is a driver problem. But the strange thing is that I
also have 5xAsus EeePC 1201N which I think have the same Atom/ION
combination, yet those are all snappy and nice, even with effects
enabled.

The easiest way to replicate it to run top in a terminal and to set the
delay low, so it will refresh it often. If I maximize the window on a
1920x1200 display, in some seconds the whole thing freezes.
