I have the same problem in 10.10. Using radeon video driver (ati x600). Using crafty engine. The cpu usage goes to 95% while playing and non-playing (between games, before game, after game). I have noticed that the cpu usage sometimes drops to around 3% but i have not been able to figure out what triggers it.
