However, the Guereins files were actually present in the directory above (in fact, it was one of the first things I've checked!). I got around the problem by installing the Win version of Stellarium through Wine and it actually works at best - save that after closing the program it loses the tick-mark aside the scaling Moon, as you can see from the attached image (Italian version).
