Hi Bhavani, I think the best option is to make the minor changes as possible. Changing source format, we only add one file. If we want to use generic quilt patch system we need to add quilt to build-depends in control, and patch and unpatch in rules. Also I think that is easier that Debian maintainer adopts 3.0 (quilt) than generic quilt patch system.
But If you think that quilt system is the best option I can change the debdiffs. At your opinion...
