The Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison, in partnership with the Center for Community Economic
Development at the University of Wisconsin-Extension, is seeking a
post-doctoral fellow. The appointee will be expected to conduct research aimed

of small business development in rural economic growth, and policies that local
communities can implement to foster business development. This research should
result in articles for publication in peer-reviewed scholarly journals as well
as policy papers for non-technical audiences. At the conclusion of the
post-doctoral experience, the fellow will enjoy a network of senior academic
and policy colleagues from which they may launch a career in higher education
or community development policy analysis.

Requirements:

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree in economics, applied economics or a
closely related discipline, preferably with community economics, regional
science, economic geography or a closely related major field. Individuals with
ABD status are strongly encouraged to apply but will not be appointed until
they have met all degree requirements. Compensation will be commensurate with
recent Ph.D.s in the same or related fields of study. Health care benefits are
provided. The position will be appointed for up to three years and will be
housed in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics on the Madison
campus. The successful candidate should expect to take up the position sometime
between June 1 and

September 1, 2014.
