We are seeking an outstanding individual who will contribute to teaching, research and outreach in Land and Real Estate Finance. This new position is part of the Iowa State University Presidential High Impact Hires Initiative to support targeted faculty hiring in areas of strategic importance. The successful candidate will have a tenure home in the College of Design and contribute to ISU's mission through research, community outreach and extension, teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and contribute to the double degree in Masters in Community and Regional Planning (MCRP) and Masters in Business Administration (MBA). The position's responsibilities will be 50% extension and outreach, 25% teaching in the College of Design, and 25% teaching in the College of Business. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop a robust extension and outreach education program to support land development and public policy associated with property assessments. Associated with the Extension appointment is the expectation that the successful candidate will develop an applied research program relevant to land development and tax policy associated with land value. Required Qualifications PhD in urban or regional planning, business, public policy, economics, finance or a related field; OR a terminal degree in architecture, landscape architecture, or a related design field. (ABD candidates must complete all requirements for the PhD by start date.) Preferred Qualifications Applicants with interdisciplinary education encompassing both the physical and financial aspects of development are preferred. Teaching and research expertise in land and real estate finance, with interest in one or more of the following areas: retail development, public subsidy and gap financing, urban real estate development, market analysis and project-level development finance, and land assembly. The ability to advance understanding and familiarity with issues related to real estate finance and land value changes in evolving market climates in the Midwestern region is also desirable. Commitment to community outreach work and/or experience in real estate development industry and public policy associated with land value. Experience in real estate economics or finance. Experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.
