Hi all. I'm trying to do some benchmarking on different filesystems on a software raidarray and I've expiriencing no write speedup from the single disk setup to a 3 disk raid 0 setup using reiserfs. I'm using the sequential test of bonnie as a benchmark - wich is ofcourse not representative of reallife performance, but as far as I can still give some speedup. Maybee someone can help me out? The hardware is: CyrixIII 550Mhz CPU, AOpen MX3ZA motherboard 256MB PC133 RAM 3xMaxtor Diamond Max Plus (7200 RPM) 60GB disks 1 or 2 Promise Ultra 100 Tx2 ATA100 controlers The software is Debian 2.2 with a few major updates (gcc and more) running Linux 2.4.5 with the latest patches for the Promise controller and SGI XFS filesystem. These are my results (for different chunk-sizes): Single disk read : 35.201 Single disk write: 24.677 -----4kB----- -----8kB----- ----32kB----- Read Write Read Write Read Write 57.897 25.215 57.789 23.400 60.442 24.168 ----64kB----- ----128kB---- ----256kB---- Read Write Read Write Read Write 59.045 23.421 61.696 23.640 62.273 23.517 Regards Martin Leopold.
