Yes to both questions.

Another weird thing is that I don't seem to be able to umount reiserfs
partition (on the file server - nfs umount works fine on the client).
It always seems to say the device is busy.  (I only have 33 processes
on the machine, and 18 of them are kernel processes and the rest are
syslogd and rpc things so I know it's not being used, but to be sure I
did a lsof, and the partition doesn't show up there either.)
