This would be expected behaviour of the filesystem. If you save shortly
before, the filesystem state would be corretc, but the data blocks would not
have hit the disk yet.

This is partly a bug (because being able to view left garbage is a
security problem) and partly normal behaviour for a non-data-journaling
filesystem.
