Sorry, I am confused.
You had to do:
dd if=/dev/shreded of=/dev/spare
reiserfsck --rebuild-sb /dev/spare
reiserfsck --rebuild-tree -S /dev/spare
mount /dev/spare /mnt

Would you try that and let us know the result?
