Details:
If the second Monte Carlo simulation has failed and is deselected by
eliminate(), then the 'select_sim' array of all spins will be:
[1, 0, 1, ... , 1]
This is a numpy array, but should really be a Python list of Boolean values:
[True, False, True, ..., True].
