FWIW at least QtWebEngine does have a lot of regressions in 5.8: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-58779 (P1) https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-58362 (P1) https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-58748 (P2) https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-58381 (P1) https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-58333 (P2) https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-58544 (P2, but makes <select> elements unusable) https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-58563 (P1) https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-58561 (P1) (and probably more I missed) Some of those do have workarounds, but others (like 58381) are real deal-breakers, and - from my point of view - make 5.8 a really bad release, at least for QtWebEngine. I do realize many of those don't have a fix available yet (and I'm trying to help where I can (e.g. with https://codereview.qt-project.org/#/c/185341/ ), but it'd be rather bad to wait half a year until there's a release fixing all those regressions, IMHO.
