Professor Volokh:
A friend of mine told me that Orthodox Jews in New York are working with that state's bar on this problem: this holiday,

falls on the date of the state's July Bar Exam administration in 2004 and observant Orthodox Jews would be unable to take the exam. A quick Google was unproductive. Has this situation occurred in the past, where observant members of a religious group have been unable to sit for a bar exam on a particular date? What has been/should be the result?
