HIV/AIDS Reporting Course at Reuters Foundation *****************
The Thomson Reuters Foundation invites applications from journalists reporting on HIV/AIDS related issues to participate in a 5-day training course. This course is designed to encourage journalists to write with more confidence on a range of issues surrounding the sociological, developmental, economic and clinical aspects of HIV/AIDS. The course will be conducted through a mixture of expert briefings, discussions, practical writing exercises and outside visits. The course usually features a high-profile public panel debate. Course details: - Start date : 02 November 2009 - End date : 06 November 2009 - Location : Nairobi,Kenya - Language : English - Deadline : 14 August 2009 Eligibility : Participants should come mainly from developing countries in Africa, Asia, South America, Caribbean and Eastern Europe. Applicants should be reporters and feature writers on mainstream media who cover HIV/AIDS issues, not necessarily as specialists and should have about 5 years experience working with print, broadcast or online media. Funding: Thomson Reuters Foundation offers full bursaries for journalists from the developing world/countries in political transition working for organisations with no resources for training. Bursaries would include travel expenses (economy class), accommodation and a modest living allowance. This arrangement is subject to variation. Part-funded bursaries are available for journalists from the developing world/countries in political transition who work for organisations that have limited resources for training. In this instance,Reuters Foundation waives the tuition cost. In exceptional circumstances, journalists from the developed world will be considered for part-funded bursaries.
