Hi all,
working on new updates to the FacultyStaffDirectory product, we've
noticed a number of issues in membrane 1.1b5 with respect to the
upcoming 3.3rc3 release of Plone. As FSD depends on membrane, our
product is similarly challenged.
Running the tests in Products.membrane 1.1b5 in a fresh plone 3.3rc3
buildout results in 31 failures and 21 errors out of 97 tests.
Running the FSD tests results in 10 failures and 19 errors out of 126
tests. All of the problems are related to membership integration,
and can be traced back to the problems in membrane 1.1b5
My question is if having a product like membrane broken in 3.3rc3
counts as a problem with plone or one with membrane? As authors of a
product that depends on membrane, should we be looking to target
membrane trunk for our upcoming releases or will membrane 1.1 end up
compatible with plone 3.3? I'm good either way, but I wonder about
the promise of maintained compatibility in the plone 3 line with
respect to membrane and its dependents.
