I am curious to know some of the implications of vertical mode text are in render/xft:
since it may be desired for an application to have fonts be rendered differently in those situations, how compatible would that be with the current code? (I know that rotation is part of a font's description, but this is different, part of the kerning but not really in the relation of two+glyphs rather between the glyph and the text-direction ) for example, in japanese, the glyph at U+3087, "small yo", would look best centered at the top-right of the em in vertical mode, but in horizontal mode it looks best in the bottom left. (A common compromise current fonts use is to simply center it, giving acceptable but mediocre appearance) just wondering if anybody knows offhand what the sticking points would be for that... thx, _______________________________________________ Render mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/render
