Check for strong java/j2ee candidates with SATCOM or NMS experience etc. Location: Germantown MD Rate is open, try your best to keep it low. Duration: 6-12 months. Job Responsibilities / Skills: Architecture specification, design, and implementation of near real time network control software, IP software stack enhancements, and JAVA/Web based Network Management System (NMS) software for broadband, multi-service, bandwidth-on-demand satellite networks and products. This includes real-time signaling and message handling techniques, network synchronization, network configuration management, network connection management, traffic management, and bandwidth management. Technologies used include RTOS/Solaris/Windows/Linux operating environment, C/JAVA/ Servlets/JDBC/EJB programming languages, TDMA and datacom protocols. Development includes algorithms for managing advanced data communications and telecommunications protocol services. Including IP, DVB, ATM, and Frame Relay. Design and implementation of Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) and SNMP software extensions to the NMS to provide the capability to integrate management functionality into standards based platform. Education Requirements BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering Experience/Skills Required: The successful candidate for this position shall have a minimum of 5 years of experience directly related to the development of web-based applications and UI design. Must be able to perform in all areas of the software development lifecycle, including requirements derivation, software architecture, design, implementation, unit test, and hardware/software integration. Strong web-based UI skills and a demonstrated proficiency with Java, C++, and Unix/Linux Operating Systems is required. Experience with PERL, Python or other scripting language is desired.
