I take it this is a "virgin" Bird, i.e., no add-on after market peak reading battery driven board ? What happens if you use something like a 10 watt slug and drive it with 50 watts ??? Same deflection on the meter ?? Could be a high resistance "open" or bad solder joint in the interconnect cable from the pickup unit to the meter ??
