If you have a left hand drill, use it to turn out the section - push drinking straws down the drill bit to prevent chaffing the housing and to center the drill bit in the hole. No left hand drills? Is the back of the mounting clear to drive the slug downward and out thru the base? Use a conventional drill and plenty of straws from the golden arches food palace as mentioned earlier. Otherwise you could remove the coil and attempt the same in a small tabletop vise. Even if the threads get damaged you can probably melt/drip in enough dark beeswax to the hole and twist in any slug and try the tune-up - good luck.
