Hi, I tuned up a Mitrek for repeater use. Everything went fine and I set the power level to 65W into a 50 Ohm load. When I connected the Mitrek to the actual antenna, power output was reduced to less than 30W. Why would that be?
There's no reflected power to speak of using either 50 Ohm load or antenna. The current draw of the Mitrek with 30W into the antenna is similar to the current draw when the Mitrek is set to 30W with a 50 Ohm load. I checked the antenna and feedline. It seems just fine. I can not reproduce the same problem with my HT or FT-2200. They both perform identical regardless of whether connected to the antenna or the 50 Ohm load. One of the big reasons for asking is that this greatly affected duplexer tuning. I had to retune the duplexer with the Mitrek and actual antenna connected.
