I have experienced duplex noise with lengths of RG-8 and RG-213 that were pretty old and the braid lost its shine. I learned this the hard way when blaming antennas for duplex noise when indeed it was the feedline.
>From that point on, I decided to make certain that all cable on the duplexed size of the repeater was not braided, ie, Superflex or the like and I don't generally have problems. A long time ago, I remembered seeing what looked like a Decibel DB- 413 eight bay folded array all lined in the same direction, but it was manufactured by someone else I'm sure.. The phasing harness was made from miniature hardline, maybe 3/16 in diameter, and all joints in the harness looked to be welded with silver solder.. Must have been Teflon dielectric.. Anyway, it's the only one I've ever seen like this. Sounds like that would eliminate the issue with duplex noise in the cable.. One thing that seems to give DB products an advantage is the sticky stuff on the braid of their cables which repels moisture and keeps the braid like new.. I was surprised to see my new Celwave PD-340 come with regular RG-8 and RG-11 interconnects.. Thought they would have vapor bloc'd their cables, too.. I left the DB-420 as mentioned in the original message up on the tower and have continued to run it on the repeater without any problems. The wind hasn't been blowing much the past few days.
