I just put an MTR2000 UHF repeater in commercial service, and I know that it will also cover the Amateur 70cm band. It's pretty pricey for most Ham groups, even if you get a "stripped" model. Be aware, the 100 watt model requires 28VDC, while the 60W and lower run on 12VDC. You can save a few hundred by deleting the built-in power supply and the 4-wire interface. However, you should consider getting the speaker, speaker cable, special local-control microphone, programming cable, and the RVN4148 RSS. One other thing: The MTR2000 is intended to be "repaired" by exchanging modules, so the detailed service manual does NOT contain any schematics or parts lists. Although the MTR2000 is pretty rugged and reliable, it is not a repeater that is user-serviceable.
