The DB antenna looks great - unfortunately, we need a ham band version 2-Meter/440 MHz for a Government Emergency Operations Center. It's beginning to look like we'll just have to go with separate antennas and a M/A-COM splitter, like their CC-150-450 unit. We don't have time to try to "modify" some commercial band gear on this project.

It has been done and it must be side braced, the original build from DB uses a much larger base mast for the high band segment which holds the uhf unit above. I didn't think this was still being built, it is a great performer - basically you are getting 2 650bux dipoles on a stronger mast - even if you can't order for the ham band it is not that tough to move it down by adding some more metal like Derek KC4FWC has done to his high band set-up. It is worth the 1000 to get the dual band in a safe tower mounted antenna system, not the ham toothpick you will have to rebuild in 2 years.
