Here are a couple quick answers:

This is why I'm looking for a set up with duplexer, so I can have the new
one on GMRS and use our current one for normal use.

I knew this was an open one......our current rig is only 15watts....hoping
for 50watts or so.

Right! but "low" wattage by a lot of ppl's. standards is only 10-25watts.

That is why I'm looking for a programmable unit....we can program/re-program
as appropriate and add tones as required.
