Anyone have any information preferabley a service manual or at least the
crystal forumula for a Standard C-790? I was given a box of these radios with
no documentation or control heads. They look well suited for amateur use as the
internals look like that of a RPT-21 and the crystals have ovens.
I'm not sure that is the correct model number either. The radios are painted
standard dark brown. and have a centronics connector for the control head and
nothing else on the front panel. The rear panel has a odd molex power plug,
SO-239 and a RCA plug for speaker out. There is a fairly nice heat sink along
the right edge of the radio.
The guy at vertex/standard parts disavowed all knowedge of the radios
existence. Then again theses are the same people that told me a 470-490 split
Yaesu FTC-4610 couldn't be modified to amateur bands.
