Hi Tim, Motorhead actually uses a self standard color code for their older base mics with the blace multi conductor wire flying lead.
Mic Low - Shield Mic High - Brown PTT - Green Ground - Black PL Disable - White Yellow and Red are/can be used for speaker/headset audio or some control function switching. Tx Audio on the brown lead requires about +8 volts fed through a resistor. Something about 27K comes to mind for an electret project I just completed.
