I agree... I have used EchoStation in the past as an announcement machine and also a way to do the ARRL Report. Very reliable...I don't use it as a repeater controller but I am sure it would do just fine as others have stated. It does not take very much to build a repeater and $10 will do the trick but it would take $thousands more to make a voice announcement machine which EchoStation does for $20 or so dollars.
I also look at it as support for EchoLink since when I paid for the program Johnathan was not taking any $$ for that application. Don't know if it has changed or not but I looked at it as a donation of sorts.
