A question to the group hope we can find the answer.... OK I have a
GMRS Repeater located on a large tower over looking the NY/NJ Metro area.
Currently I have been using a Motorola Desktrac Repeater (which is basically 2
Maxtrac mobiles with a basic repeater controller, and it is not continuous duty)
10 dB gain Superstation Master antenna on top of the tower, with 1 1/2
hard-line. The repeater has been putting out 25 watts. I cover a great
deal of area with this repeater, with little dead spots. I purchased an
ICOM FR-4000 repeater last week, hoping to have a more continuous duty
repeater, DTMF Controls and some other features. After I removed
the Desktrac, and put the ICOM in place I lost total coverage, a portable could
not get in from 2 miles away, when I was getting portable coverage from 30-40
miles away. So I placed the Motorola Desktrac back and no problem.
So far I have no idea why I have lost the
coverage, I know there is a 800 MHz EDACS System putting out 25 watts on the
tower and a VHF System. Both have not interfered with the Desktrac. What could
this be? what possible cures could fix this problem?
Thanks in advance
