I've been known to run the repeater exciter
direct to the antenna during PA repairs.
A few hundred milliwatts can actually go
quite a distance. I know of some 40 plus
mile UHF links running about 2 watts.
The other issue is 40 watts from a maxtrac
PA section.
Put a small blower/fan on it or expect to
fix it at some future date. Even better,
cut the PA down to 20 to 25 watts in
software, but still use a small fan.
