The Secode tone was 2805 CPS and the mechanical decoder used a pin to latch when a proper pulse count was received. A number of the RCC phone systems used that for selective calling.
The MTS and later IMTS phones used the same type of mechanical decoder but used alternating mark and space tones of 600 and 1500 CPS. The Motorola IMTS logic board was a fully discreet transistor decoder that used jumper wires to program the number. They were about 14 by 20 inch PC Boards that were really densely populated. They were a bugger to fix, most shops exchanged them with Bat Parts when they failed. Now the entire decoder is the size of a postage stamp! Jack K6YC ----- Original Message ----- From: "John J.
