Hello Group,
I have been using MSF-5000 digital/secure capable stations for
several years now and have several questions.

First, I am noticing a very long key-up delay on the repeater when I
use a higher CTCSS tone such as 233.6 or 250.3 It takes at least one
full second to key the repeater. On any lower PL tone such as 77.0
or 88.5, it will key relatively quick. I have the receiver and
repeater open/hold set to SC (audio squelch, PL detect) instead of
just C (PL detect) to eliminate long squelch tails on non-reverse-
burst radios. Is there any particular reason the MSF takes so long
to decode the higher tones?

Second, I have a need for an MSF-5000 to be programmed so that the PL
encode will only activate on a valid RX qualifier. In other words,
there will only be tone encoded when someone is talking, and the hang
time will be stripped of the PL. I have read this text on the
Batlabs MSF-5000 info site:

"...and program the TX PL to turn on only when the RX qualifier is
met..."

Where in the software do I find out how to do this?

Last, I am looking for a COS point on the MSF's main board. I have
found several points that change logic level on carrier detect, but I
would like to find a point that changes on proper PL detect only.
Where can I find this besides J2, pin 23 (RDSTAT) ??

Thanks for any help,
Derek KC4FWC
