I remember years ago someone was using MX300 series radios as full duplex. There was a mod for getting around the T/R relay and eliminating the muting. A small mobile UHF duplexer, and you're in business.
As a matter of fact, I think the highway callboxes here in Connecticut used these radios. Unfortunately I found this out after they'd been dumpsterized and destroyed.
