As I had suggested and suspected, there is information provided by
the factory on connecting an external repeater controller to a Mastr IIe
Station Backplane... The interface connector is called P3, which is a 96
pin Din connector on the end of the backplane PCB. This connector is
normally designed to mate with a daughterboard which is called an aux
backplane and gets bolted onto the back for additional connections and
relays.. The board lists at $200.00 USD so I doubt many will want to go
that route.
The connections are mapped as follow.. all are on P3.
This information is provided with the caveat that you know what
this all means and preferably have a manual and a firm understanding of the
station in question. Band is not specific to my knowledge... Please do not
yell at me if you hook something up wrong and cause a smoke release.... The
LBI this is taken from is
LBI-38430
P3-
C21 A+ DC Power
B13,C13 Gnd Power Ground
C20 Local Mic PTT
B20 CAS
A3 Local Mic Hi
B6 CG_HI_Encode_In
B2 Vol_Sq_Hi RX audio unfiltered
Settings for the Mastr IIe programming personality in the Mastr IIe
software are as follows..
No Repeat
RF Duplex
NO CG Encode or Decode
No CCT or DODT Timers
Remote Control is optional...
Now what this means on the PCB....
Top of the connector is Row 1, bottom is Row 32
Viewing the end of the connector P3, the column closest to the back side of
the PCB ( not the component side ) is column "A"
Middle column is Column "B"
Front most relative to the component side of the Backplane board is Column "C"
A mating connector is available from Digikey if you want to stick one in
with solder tails to connect wires to.. about $4.50 USD...
The AMP Part Number is AMP 535032-4 for a straight connector.. it is a
stock item at Digikey.
I am in the process of laying out a aux backplane of my own to dock into
this connector, if anyone is interested I would consider ordering parts for
more of them... Probably going to run $30.00 ea in proto quantities if any
other interest.... that would include the 96 pin din connector.
I would prefer to interrupt factory audio in repeat mode, so I am
investigating other options. If I come up with a better mouse trap I will
post it as I can test it and certify it's operation.. This factory method
is lease intrusive and should provide reasonable results..MY backplane will
have lots of connections externalized for experimenting.
