A microwave system is great for the handling of a remote receiver
system. Most of the link channels are 4W and do have E&M signalling.
One could use back channel signalling to disable the RX. A tone
through the back channel (TX site to remote) could disable the Remote
RX PL if desired. If the PL decision is desired at the voting site,
the COS keys the signalling channel and a tone (like 2805) would
indicate if PL was decoded at the remote RX. Most microwave audio
channels will not pass any PL. 200Hz is typically the 3 dB point and
100 Hz is typically 30 to 40 dB down.
I have operated several voting systems which utilized 4W E&M to relay
the remote RX audio and COS+PL back to the TX/Voter. These operated
better than the tone systems (sounded slightly better also). The
tone based systems run 2805Hz on idle and remove the tone when COS is
active at the remote RX. Some GE systems run 2805Hz when COS is
active. You sometimes can hear the tone on these systems. AC remote
bases also worked with 2805Hz keying.
Alot of ways to make it work. If you've got microwave channels for
free your in FAT CITY! I hope you have good luck with it.
