I am constantly acquiring used Standard GX-3000 transceivers from
various sources, for modification and use as repeaters and links.
Cracking them open for the first time is always a joy. Typically in
about 1 out of 5 transceivers, I find factory and field
modifications that net all kinds of usefull goodies for other
projects, i.e. CTCSS decoders, two tone decoders and etc.
I recently cracked open a transceiver, only to find a very small
controller of some sort, on a PC board 1 1/2" x 1 1/2", made by
Mobiltex in 1987. It has a 63705 40 pin controller, a 93C46 1024
bit serial rom, an LM2904 dual op amp, and an 8870 DTMF decoder. In
addition it seems to have 7 diode / pull-up resistor interface to
controller inputs, and 7 open collector darlington outputs via a
ULN2003.
What this gadget looks like is a miniature repeater controller, with
7 inputs, and 7 outputs, and DTMF decode for programming call sign,
macros etc. into the serial ROM.
I would really, really like to get more info on this gadget. I tried
Mobiltex, but they don't seem to support this device.
Any information / schematics / hookup / programming info would be
appreciated.
Thanks, Bob VE3INY
