I think the dials on my FM-10 were backlit at one time - all burned out
now. I just keep a small flashlight nearby :)
I tried replacing a meter backlight in one of my radios with one of those
new high intensity white LEDs. The package it came in said it needed 30
mA. Seemed a bit high to me but I selected the appropriate resistor for
that current, & now it's about as dim as a regular LED.
