A bandpass cavity does what its names states - it passes a frequency. If you are installing a bandpass cavity ahead of a receiver preamplifier, then you want to tune it to pass the receiver frequency. A bandpass cavity is NOT a duplexer.
I'm pretty certain that there is information regarding this on the repeater builder's web site. If you are new to repeaters, you really should spend some time browsing the vast amount of information contained on the web site.
