The 6-page official Military Specification for RG-214/U (now M17/190-00001) cable can be downloaded at:
<http://www.dscc.dla.mil/Downloads/MilSpec/Docs/MIL-C-17/mil17ss190.pdf> The most recent QPL (Qualified Products List) names only two approved suppliers for this cable: Rockbestos Suprenant Cable Company Times Microwave Systems While such trusted manufacturers of coaxial cable as Alpha and Belden do, in fact, make some very good RG-214/U cable that they claim meets MIL-C-17 specifications, Uncle Sam has bestowed approval only upon the QPL firms. The price of silver being what it is, I would expect "RG-214/U" cable that sells for much less than the price for genuine RG-214/U probably is tin-coated instead of silver-coated.
